Ring Door Bell Review

In the past 2-3 years, the video doorbell has been gaining a lot of traction. And for a good reason. On to of it letting you know that there is someone at the door, it has some great extra features. And it’s all done through your phone, no matter where you are. We tested the Ring DoorBell and yes, we are happy!

Control your front yard

The Ring DoorBell replaces your old doorbell and adds a wide angle camera to the front door. So you can have a pretty good view of what’s going in the front of your house at any given time. The installation is pretty easy. They have a simple instructional video on youtube telling you how to identify what kind of a doorbell you have. Then, showing you how to remove it and install the Ring. Once you connect it to the wifi the Ring DoorBell is ready to work.

Communicate at any given time, wherever you may be!

The Ring DoorBell has two main missions: To ‘serve’ and ‘protect’ (sounds familiar?). The first one helps you go beyond the traditional doorbell. The days of shouting “It’s open” or having to walk all the way to the door only to see the UPS guy jumping back into his truck or a sales guy trying to solicit you are gone.

Once someone presses the doorbell, it rings through your phone. All you need to do is answer and see who it is. You don’t have to talk to them if you don’t want to. There is another step to answer the call (it looks like a call symbol on your cell). So you control who you want to talk to. I used it to talk to my kids when my wife brings them back from day care and I’m still at work. Nothing like long distance family moments.

It can also save you a lot of time and frustration. One day, we were out with the kids to some indoor playground about 30 minutes from our house. The mailman came over, carrying an IRS letter that needed a signature. Now that is something you don’t want to miss right? Luckily, the phone rang and I was able to talk to him. I ask that he will return with this letter tomorrow, explaining that we are out of the house. That was so awesome. Thank you Ring!

Told him to come back tomorrow...

Securing your Castle

One of the reasons for purchasing the Ring DoorBell was it’s second mission- to protect. We saw on the NextDoor app that there is a guy driving around the neighbourhood, looking to steal Amazon packages. It was a good enough excuse for me to buy it.

For an additional payment of $30 a year, Ring provides you with 24/7 recording from your front door camera. This helps deter these guys. There are so many stories about people getting caught using the Ring DoorBell. Aside from that, it helps you to keep an eye on what’s going on and make sure that your loved ones are safe.

Value for the price

To me there is no doubt that the lifetime value of this product is incredible. I use it almost everyday. It gives me the sense of being able to protect my family, even when I’m not there. It also helps with communicating important messages to service providers and also joke a bit with my kids because they are still too young to understand (I told them that there is an Ice cream guy inside the doorbell and if the ask nicely, he would give them one- it worked for about 5 minutes).

So for about $130 (the newer ones cost more) it will definitely change your life. And speaking about that, check our Ring DoorBell giveaway campaign and help changing someone’s life for a chance to win one.
